3d engine written in AS3

3d pool balls

Complete 3d renderer developed from scratch in AS3. The renderer has a number of neat functionalities.... among those are antialias, ambient lighting, directional lighting, specular lighting, bilinear filtering and subpixel positioning (1/4 pixel on x & y)

sql to find matches based on proximity

SELECT TOP 5 id, latitude, longitude, SQRT((myLAT - latitude) * (myLAT - latitude) + (myLONG - longitude) * (myLONG - longitude)) AS distance FROM table WHERE ((myLONG-proximity) < longitude) AND (latitude < (myLAT+proximity)) AND ((myLAT-proximity) < latitude) AND (longitude < (myLONG+proximity)) ORDER BY distance

The trick here is that you operate on degrees instead of physical distance, so you have to convert your normal geocoded results to degrees, thus 1 degree minute equals 1/60 degree and 1 degree second equals 1/3600 degree. Your results will also be in degrees, but the proximity is still accurate, just remember to convert the degrees back to physical distance.

finally a playground

finally did i get something besides work done. UnZipMeNow will be my playground where I post little experiments that I do. Article 01, 05, 09 have source included and eventually they will all eventually be available with the full source. My plan is to write short articles with the examples and I'll be going over a number of different topics, e.g. Anti Alias, Bilinear Filtering, Huffman Encoding/Compression, Levenshtein distance etc etc. I hope that someone find them interesting and get some use/value out of me putting them up here. If you do enjoy them please drop me a note, that way I know I'm not just talking to myself. I can be found at gmail.com.... The rest should be easy to guess.
